Powerslide Motorcycles make Bennetts BSB debut with Estment

12 October 2020

A new team will make its Bennetts British Superbike Championship debut this weekend at Brands Hatch as leading Suzuki Dealership, Powerslide Motorcycles, join the grid with Bjorn Estment for the final three rounds.

The Stoke-on-Trent dealership has been involved in the Bennetts BSB paddock for several seasons, supporting riders, however they are making the step up to run their own Superbike this weekend after joining forces with Catfoss modular and Rich Energy.

The team are confident that Estment will gel with the Suzuki GSXR-R 1000 and make steady progress throughout the final weekend of the 2020 season.

Estment said: “I am really excited and very grateful to Powerslide Motorcycles and Catfoss for this opportunity moving forward. It has been a tough year and I count myself very fortunate in getting a chance like the one that has been offered to me for the final round.

“It fills me with loads of confidence to be receiving the tech support through the Powerslide squad from the likes of OMG and Hawk Racing. I love Brands Hatch and always enjoy every lap of the magnificent GP circuit. The plan is to keep it simple, understand the tools we have at our disposal, and most importantly have a lot of fun finishing off the 2020 Bennetts British Superbike season.”

Team owner Brad Clarke commented: “We have been involved in BSB for a long time with teams like OMG and Hawk Racing. When the opportunity was presented to have our own Superbike on the grid in the best domestic series in the world there was only ever going to be one choice. It is quite surreal.

“We know Bjorn as a rider has potential to score points, but this weekend is about him gaining some consistency and confidence so we can build from there. A massive thanks to Paul Curran of Rich Energy and Steve at Hawk Racing who have helped turn this project around in such a short space of time.

“We want to enjoy our first Superbike weekend and show that we can put a bike out there that has the potential. The Suzuki GSXR has shown its pedigree and with the people we have around us I know we can be competitive.”
