Kyle Ryde became the seventh different Bennetts British Superbike Championship race winner of the 2020 season at Silverstone and now holding fourth place in the overall standings, the Buildbase Suzuki rider is determined to maintain his momentum in Cheshire.
Ryde became the second rider this season to score a winning double at the previous event, which means he now trails Josh Brookes and Tommy Bridewell ahead of him by just eight points ahead of the next three rounds this weekend.
Speaking ahead of the weekend, Ryde said: “I am looking forward to Oulton Park this weekend; I think I really need to get three really good points scoring finishes because I am not actually that far behind in the championship standings, although I am not looking at that right now.
“I am only eight points behind second place and the bike has worked really well at the last couple of rounds. I think Oulton Park is a difficult track and I haven’t ridden the Superbike there before either, so it might be a bit tougher than Silverstone for me, that is guaranteed, but I think I can still keep with the front lot. I expect the Ducatis to be fast this weekend, they were last year, so they are going to be the targets to try and hang on to them. We will work hard Friday and Saturday morning to try and put us in a good place.
“Glenn Irwin is still at the top and he didn’t do anything amazing at Silverstone but he did get three fourths and extended his lead, so he is obviously the one with the target on his back. Being fourth still feels a bit strange and a bit of a surprise in my first full season in BSB! I have to put that to the back of my head for now and thinking about being consistent and finishing every race.
“I have got to be happy with where we are and the way I have been riding so far, so I am confident for this weekend and see where we end up. I think it is shaping up nicely as there are six or seven people really close, with three races in a weekend it only takes one slip up and you could end up 25 points behind again. It is shaping up for a really interesting end to thee year that’s for sure!”
