Lee Jackson bagged his first podium finish of the 2020 Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Oulton Park and now the Rapid Fulfillment FS-3 Kawasaki rider is ready to push to be in the hunt again this weekend for Team Green.
Jackson had previously scored a best result of two fourth place finishes at Snetterton, and the Rapid Fulfillment FS-3 Kawasaki rider was set to equal that performance, until a last lap, final corner move on double race winner Jason O'Halloran put him onto the podium for the first time in 2020.
Jackson said: “Going to Oulton we knew we had a really good starting place after making a step at Snetterton, which we carried on at Silverstone. We wasn’t quite as close as we should have been there, but I knew after last year in the Superstock class at Oulton, it was somewhere I could potentially get on the podium and prove we could fight at the front.
“It was definitely the best weekend of the year so far for us, consistently being at the front again and minor improvements throughout the weekend helped to give that little extra edge. I finished fourth at Snetterton, so to get on the podium at Oulton Park was a bit of a weight off my shoulders. I know I can do it; I have been there or thereabouts but just hadn’t quite got there so it was great that it happened.
“I was looking at a few places to try and make a move on Jason but he was also trying to line up Christian, and in some of the places where I thought I could have gone Jason was in the middle of the track to try and make a pass so that made it more difficult for me. So coming into Lodge on the final lap, everyone knows that someone will always have a go. Obviously with Christian defending and Jason not really having anywhere to go, I soon switched my attack to the other line as I have seen that happen plenty of times because you can get someone on the run to the line at Oulton Park.
“It is going to be another three tough races this weekend but I am looking forward to getting stuck in. For me the aim is top six but to be in the top three isn’t out of the question, so I am going there with an open mind and see where we end up. If I can beat Taz and Kyle in the next few races then that could move me up the championship order, but both of them will also go well there, so we will have to see what happens but I am hoping for a good weekend!”
