Buchan: “I feel even more motivated going into the last couple of rounds”

01 October 2020

Danny Buchan scored a double podium finish in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship rounds at Oulton Park and the Rapid Fulfillment FS-3 Kawasaki rider admits he is feeling even more motivated ahead of this weekend’s next three rounds.

Buchan arrives at Donington Park holding tenth place in the championship standings, but the Essex contender is eager to pick up where he left off last time out in Cheshire in a bit to catapult himself further up the order in the championship stakes.

Buchan said: “I am feeling quite optimistic ahead of the weekend. Oulton Park is a good track for me, and I felt more comfortable on the bike there and that is where the podiums came from. After race two I felt really happy and I had a good weekend where it all came together. I think perhaps Snetterton could have been the same if I hadn’t crashed on the restart after the Safety Car, which could have been a different weekend.

“Silverstone was a little bit harder for me and I just didn’t feel comfortable there, we just didn’t get the most out of me and the bike, but after the two podiums at Oulton Park I feel even more motivated going into the last couple of rounds. I can still be fighting for a position in the top six in the championship and if I can get there that would be great and at the moment I am focusing race by race.

“I am feeling quite confident going into Donington. We had a good bike there at the start of the season and it was after that event that we made quite a significant change to how we set the bike up, so we are returning with the changes and that gives me more confidence as well because the bike should be quite a lot better.

“I am good at putting bad results behind me and I am confident in myself and I know where I can be and what results I should get, it is just actually getting them out! In the normal championship, it probably wouldn’t look so bad, but because it is such a short championship it shows so much more. I feel happy and relaxed and ready to go there and do a good job.”
