Josh Brookes and Glenn Irwin went head-to-head at the top of the times in a wet Bennetts British Superbike Championship warm up session at Donington Park this morning ahead of Round 13 which gets underway at 12:20 this afternoon.
Glenn Irwin had been setting the initial pace for Honda Racing but in the final moments Brookes edged ahead by 0.275s to hold the final advantage at the chequered flag with Christian Iddon holding third position.
Jason O'Halloran continued to move up the order for McAMS Yamaha into fourth, ahead of Kyle Ryde on the Buildbase Suzuki who completed the top five.
Andrew Irwin had been running second until the closing stages of the session when he dropped to sixth ahead of Gino Rea. Lee Jackson was the leading Rapid Fulfillment FS-3 Kawasaki in eighth as teammate Danny Buchan crashed out unhurt at Craner Curves with Ryan Vickers and Peter Hickman completing the top ten.
