Earlier in the year, British Superbike organisers MSVR and FIM World Supersport organisers DWO, made an announcement as to the future evolution of the Supersport class.
The redefinition of the important Supersport category to include alternative, different capacity machines requires the ‘balancing’ of performance characteristics to fit with existing participating machines.
The Triumph 765RS will be the first such machine to take part with a Factory supported race team in the 2021 Quattro Group British Supersport Championship.
So far, during 2021, the Triumph 765RS has been evaluated on track and on the dynamometer against the current crop of Supersport machines. This has resulted in the use of an approved ‘control ECU’, with a fixed engine tune strategy developed by MCRCB and MSVR technical personnel to include both a rev limit and engine torque control through the rev range.
The final tune strategy was signed off at the recent Donington Park BSB Official Test.
The full technical process including final power versus rev range data can be seen in the document linked below, against data from typical Yamaha and Kawasaki Supersport machines in the Championship.
The first round of the 2021 Quattro Group British Supersport Championship takes place this weekend at Oulton Park and the next review point of the balance of performance will take place after Round 4 at Thruxton on July 30-August 1.
