TAG Racing Honda has announced that Scott Swann will join the team for a one off-appearance when the British Superbike Championship hits the TT Circuit Assen on September 18/19/20.
The Northern Irishman is set for a welcomed return to the class for the one-off appearance as he continues to fight for title glory in the Pirelli National Superstock Championship. The 23-year-old from Carrickfergus has collected two victories so far in the year, and sits third in the standings, after a switch from a privately run Honda to BMW machinery mid-season, courtesy of support from SMR Performance.
Swann will join the team for a one-day shakedown test at Donington Park ahead of the event before travelling to the ‘Cathedral of Speed’.
Swann said: “Honestly, I absolutely can’t wait for Assen; I want to say a massive thank you to Rob, Tracy and Gary for thinking of me and giving me this opportunity. It’s probably the coolest track on the BSB calendar and it’s definitely one of my favourites.
“When I was last there in 2025 I enjoyed one of my best races, I was battling with the likes of Josh Brookes, Lee Jackson, Glenn Irwin, some really experienced guys in the class and that definitely has me excited for going back there.
“I’m also delighted to go there and have the chance to work with one of the most established teams on the grid that have won races, been on the podium, finished high in the Championship and have an extremely positive name in the series. That’s a really exciting prospect for me, they’re professional and put their heart and soul into it.
“After taking the sideway step back into Superstock for 2026, after what I thought was a strong rookie year in Superbike, my goal was to win races put myself in the window if any superbike teams needed someone to step in for a round, to help me get my foot back in the door for 2027.
“I feel ready for it, I’m really excited, I don’t think I’m going to pull off any mad results, I just want to enjoy it. I know it’s going to be tough jumping to from a Superstock bike onto a Superbike, but I’m positive I can gel with the Honda, get faster each session, work well with the team and then see where we end up come the end of the weekend.
“I must say a massive thank you to SMR Performance for allowing me to do this, they have helped me so much since stepping in mid-year. I also must thank all my sponsors for their support as well, without them this wouldn’t have been possible.”
Team manager Gary Winfield: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to welcome Scott to the team for the upcoming round at Assen. From our initial conversations he’s shown a lot of passion for our team and we’re excited to see him on one of our Fireblades.
“He is currently having a fantastic season within the Pirelli National Superstock Championship, and hopefully this opportunity will be a chance for him to showcase what he can do in the Superbike class. He impressed on numerous occasions in 2025, he was a rookie in the class and certainly showed his potential, and hopefully that will be on show in the Netherlands.
“The shakedown test at Donington will provide us with sufficient time to get him up to speed, to ensure he is comfortable on the bike and it’ll mean he can hit the ground running at Assen. We’re not expecting anything from him, we want him to provide us with solid feedback about the bike, focus on his own riding and let the results speak for themselves.”
