Defending champion Kyle Ryde leads the ZYN British Superbike Championship standings into his home round of Donington Park for the penultimate round of the Showdown this weekend (October 2/3/4).
The Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing rider holds a 68 point edge into the three races this weekend, but knows with 180 points still available for the taking, that he needs to remain consistent in his quest to make history at Brands Hatch in just over two weeks’ time (October 16/17/18).
Ryde said: “Heading towards Donington Park, we want to try and keep the championship lead similar to what it is over the weekend ready for Brands Hatch. We know anything can happen, 68 points is a good gap but anything can happen, there are situation, which add up, and there is still a monstrosity of 180 points available from the last two rounds!
“We are coming from a track where Scott is really good and I am looking forward to Donington Park now. I am looking forward to all my home fans being there this weekend and the weather is looking alright, which is good!
“We want to have some more proper ding-dongs like we had at Assen as my phone and social media has been non-stop!
“I think Max will also be eager to get involved and was fast at the start of the season, so will Brad and Scott and Ryan is also on form, so I think there will be four or five of us that will be really fast and fighting it out. I want to enjoy the races and do what I normally do and the plan is the same as always, to score as many points as possible ready for Brands Hatch.”
