Rory Skinner claimed victory in the ZYN British Superbike Championship at Cadwell Park and this weekend as the Showdown kicks off at the TT Circuit Assen, the Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha rider is relishing the return to The Cathedral of Speed.
Skinner claimed the victory for the Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha team at Cadwell Park in the opening race, before two crashes halted his progress on Bank Holiday Monday, but has now successfully celebrated three wins with as many manufacturers in as many years with the team. The Scottish contender has taken positives from the previous round, and is hoping to build on the progress this weekend.
Skinner said: “Cadwell Park for me was a really good weekend. As I said going into the weekend, I was hoping to keep on the form we had on Thruxton and I think it’s fair to say that we did that. It was nice to get my first dry race win under my belt, nice to win somewhere other than Knockhill too, as much as I do love winning at home, it was nice to get that monkey off my back.
“First race was brilliant obviously, the Monday racing was a little bit more difficult. The two crashes were less than ideal really. But for me there’s a lot of positives to take and it was really nice to be running consistently at the front all weekend, especially when it’s certainly not come easy this year. But at Cadwell something seemed to click and we just kind of worked.
“Assen up next, I’m always excited to go to Assen as a track as it’s somewhere I’ve ridden at quite a bit over the years especially in my junior career, in Red Bull Rookies and British Talent Cup, Moriwaki Cup, all these. So going back to Assen I’m excited for it and it should be another track that suits the Yamaha, so it should hopefully be good for us and we’ll get stuck in, do the best job we can do and I’m looking forward to being back with the Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha guys.”
