Vickers victorious to be Honda Racing UK's home round hero

Ryan Vickers delivered a Bank Holiday Monday to remember for the Honda Racing UK team, celebrating his second double race win of the season in as many rounds in the ZYN British Superbike Championship at the team’s home round of Cadwell Park.

Vickers had a disastrous opening race of the weekend when he crashed out of contention, but the Honda Racing UK rider redeemed himself with a Bank Holiday haul of wins. Vickers withstood the pressure from Bradley Ray in both races to claim the double as focus now moves to the Showdown at the TT Circuit Assen.

Vickers said: “I absolutely rode my heart out this weekend. I was pushing myself harder in some of those corners than I ever have, braked harder and later than I ever thought possible round here and delivered a performance that the team, our sponsors, the fans at home and trackside all deserved.

“I felt bad for crashing out of race one, I apologised to the other rider and took the three position penalty. I just wanted to get back out for the next race knowing that my fastest lap was strong enough to run at the front.

“The pace was good enough for an incredible day, two wins again after Thruxton is incredible, I'm so happy for me and to be able to repay the boys in the team. It's a shame I couldn't do it in the black and orange colours but to win twice in one day again, with so many friends, family and fans watching on the hill at Cadwell Park is a truly special feeling.

“I am absolutely over the moon, it’s a dream weekend and I am so happy to have done it. I have always wanted to win at Cadwell, it isn’t easy there but we did it and it paid off and we are in the fight now.”
