Ilya Mikhalchik and the ROKiT BMW Motorrad British Superbike Race team celebrated their best race finish in the ZYN British Superbike Championship at last time out, and now at Donington Park are aiming to carry the momentum into the penultimate round of the season.
Mikhalchik scored a seventh place, which he followed up with a career best BSB result of sixth in the second race, before a crash in the final race halted their momentum. Now the Ukrainian contender is aiming to build on the results at Donington Park this weekend.
Mikhalchik said: “The feeling was pretty comfortable all weekend at Assen. I would say it was maybe the first or second time where I felt quite natural on the bike and I was able to use my strong points like braking and entry into the corner and it was working, so the speed was immediately there. Then even on the weakest points we was still really competitive, so this has really made us motivated, especially for the final two rounds.
“We tried some things for race three in Assen and unfortunately they didn’t work, but now we have more experience for Donington and we know more now what will work for us. For sure, the Donington target is to try to do a good job again and hopefully it will be pretty close to what we did at Assen, as it is also a track that I like. We will try to do our best, enjoy the weekend and enjoy the final rounds of the year.”
