Asher Durham crossed the line seventh in today’s season finale to claim the 2026 British Sportbike title.
Alfie Davidson, who led the championship all the way until the penultimate round a fortnight ago, took the win after a hard-fought fight with Carl Harris and Richard Cooper.
Davidson had to win today’s 12-lap race with Durham finishing p14 or below, following yesterday’s DNF. And although he battled hard, it wasn’t enough to stop an emotional Durham from taking championship glory.
“Wow, this winter I didn’t even know if I’d be racing - I was bed bound and I didn’t know if I’d be here,” he said, holding back the tears after the race. “I’ve worked so hard for this and I can’t thank everybody around me enough.
“We did it. I wanted to win that race but I had to chill a little bit and I knew we could’ve went with them at the front but I had to think about the bigger picture and settle for the finish”
Harris hit the front at the start as Davidson stormed through from the fourth row and was running fourth by the start of Lap Three and took the lead before the lap was done.
What followed was a three-rider scrap between Davidson, Harris and yesterday’s winner Cooper which went all the way to the flag. And although Davidson just beat his rivals to the top spot, Durham’s P7 was enough to secure the title.
