Scars Racing has announced it’s progression to the ZYN British Superbike Championship next season, securing an official BMW Motorrad Motorsport British Superbike programme for the new campaign.
The announcement follows the team celebrating the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship title with Luke Stapleford at Brands Hatch this afternoon with one race remaining, following an incredible season featuring seven race wins.
Scars Racing, managed by Dale McElveen and Leigh Finlay, unveiled their new partnership with BMW Motorrad for the forthcoming season at Brands Hatch, confirming that they will campaign a two-strong rider line-up with the BMW M 1000 RR, with a rider announcement to be made in due course.
With a new generation of technical regulations coming into effect for the 2027 season, the team believes the BMW Motorrad M 1000 RR will be ideally suited to the new regulations, creating an exciting platform for the next stage of Scars Racing’s development.
The 2027 season represents a significant milestone in the development of Scars Racing as the team takes its place on the Superbike grid with BMW Motorrad. Testing preparations are already underway, with the entire team eager to begin work on the new project and start developing the BMW for the opening round of the 2027 championship.
Uwe Geyer - BMW Motorrad Motorsport Head of Customer Racing commented: “We are very pleased to welcome Scars Racing to our family as the BMW Motorrad Motorsport Official Team in the BSB. As BMW Motorrad Motorsport, we will contribute our full expertise to enable the team around Dale McElveen and Leigh Finlay to quickly unlock the full potential of the BMW M 1000 RR and achieve success in this highly competitive championship.
The two riders they have signed, are among the best riders in Great Britain and know the BSB and all its particularities very well. The ingredients for a successful campaign are in place, and together we will work hard to turn them into a strong overall package.”
Dale McElveen, Co-Team Owner, said: “It’s been a quick three-year progression with the team and we are delighted to have been given this fantastic opportunity to become the BMW Motorrad Motorsport Official Team in the ZYN British Superbike Championship.
“It’s been a very rewarding journey so far and it’s great to finally announce this and put the rumours to bed! The BMW will really suit the new Championship rules for 2027 and, with the two riders we have signed, it should be another great season for the team.
“There is a huge amount of work to do, but everyone is excited to get started and see what we can achieve.”
Leigh Finlay, Co-Team Owner, added: We can’t wait to get this underway and get testing. We’ve had a fantastic season with Luke this year. He’s been incredible to work with, has been a huge part of the team and has worked extremely hard throughout the year, we all thank him for everything he has done.
“We’ve made quick progression to the Superbike class, but it is a class that myself and the rest of the team are very familiar with, and we can’t wait to get back there. There’s a lot to look forward to with the BMW project and the new regulations, and we’re all excited to get started.”
