Joe Talbot started his rookie season in the ZYN British Superbike Championship with an impressive pair of top ten finishes on the debuting AJN Steelstock bimota at his home round of Oulton Park after bouncing back from a heavy crash in pre-season testing.
Talbot was the highest placed rookie after the opening round to lead the R&G Rising Stars league, having a strong performance in ROKiT Oxygen Performance Qualifying to secure a best result of ninth from the three races.
Talbot said: “The opening round of the season was really good for me, the first time we raced the new bimota in BSB this year so that was a good start for the team. It was a solid start after such a big crash in testing, so being able to ride and finish three races I was happy with that!
“I had been working hard in myself to learn as much as I could as the weekend went on. The track is one of my favourites, but it is obviously a really difficult track as well. Session by session I continued learning and developed over the weekend with a lot of help from the AJN Steelstock bimota team, so I want to say a massive thank you to them.
“The team have given me a solid package, and allowed me to work on myself so I want to keep doing the same – learn and develop my skills to be in the top ten. I can’t wait for Donington Park now.”
