The 2026 ZYN British Superbike Championship launches its 30th anniversary season this May Bank Holiday weekend (May 2/3/4) at Oulton Park with an incredible line-up of world-class contenders ready to battle for UK motorsport’s most coveted title.
The number one plate returns for 2026 as Kyle Ryde begins his title defence in a bid to equal inaugural champion Niall Mackenzie’s record of three consecutive titles. However, no rider in history has achieved the feat of winning back-to-back crowns for two different manufacturers, as Ryde prepares to take on the challenge.
Five previous champions line up on the grid in 2026, with Ryde’s closest rival from last season Bradley Ray returning with McAMS Yamaha and determined to make amends for missing out last year as he bids to add to his 2022 crown.
Leon Haslam was third in last year’s title hunt and he is back with the familiar Moto Rapido Racing team, whilst 2019 champion Scott Redding is ready to launch his bid to take title number two with the Hager PBM Racing Team. Meanwhile double champion Josh Brookes is the most successful rider on the current grid with two titles and holds second place in the championship’s history of overall race wins as he bids to add to his achievements.
15 race winners and a further three podium finishers line up on this year’s grid, showing the depth of talent in the championship, with five rookies ready to make their mark, including reigning Quattro Group British Supersport champion Rhys Irwin and 2025 Pirelli National Superstock champion Ilya Mikhalchik.
A total of 18 teams line up in their quest for success, including two new entries in the shape of MET fonaCAB Racing and SM Racing Honda for the 2026 season. The 2026 grid features five manufacturers, including bimota who are the latest to join the series for the forthcoming anniversary season.
