Ray: “We made a good step with the bike”

McAMS Yamaha’s Bradley Ray scored consistent fourth place finishes in the second round of the ZYN British Superbike Championship at Donington Park, as the team overcame an early crash in Free Practice to secure a solid points’ haul.

The opening day presented challenges for Ray and the McAMS Yamaha team, with an early Free Practice 1 crash hampering the opening day. Despite the setback, Ray secured a place in the ROKiT Oxygen Performance Q2 session, sitting within the top ten in pre-qualifying.

Swiftly diagnosing the issue, the team headed into Saturday with renewed confidence, qualifying on the third row with his fastest lap of the circuit ahead of the opening 20-lap race.

In race 1, Ray took a seventh place, before delivering a pair of fourth places on Sunday. In race 2, a strong launch put him in podium contention and fending off persistent pressure from Leon Haslam, Christian Iddon and Rory Skinner throughout. That form carried into the final 20-lap race of the weekend, and after a fast start, he held fourth position, settling into his rhythm.

Ray said: “It was a good weekend overall, considering we started Friday with a crash and lost some valuable track time, but both Sunday races were very strong. We made a good step with the bike in the warm-up, got a clean start, and I managed to work through the field and close the gap to the front.

“I was pushing hard the entire race trying to find that extra bit, and while there are still a few areas to improve, I’m genuinely pleased with how things came together. The team has done a fantastic job and the bike has clearly taken a step forward. We’ll take the points, and hopefully Knockhill will deliver some stronger results.”
