Lee Devonport celebrated victory in this morning’s Last Chance Qualifier at Donington Park as he kept Simon Bastable at bay to win by almost half a second.
Bastable started from pole and got away well, leading into Redgate for the first time and staying ahead for the first couple of laps.
But Devonport, who had started from p3 and dropped back to fourth at the start, was on a charge, quickly passing Alex Vella and Jim Lee to move up to p2 by the end of the second lap.
Bastable was already two seconds ahead by now but Devonport was able to reel him in over the next few laps, hitting the front on Lap Five. From there he controlled the race and was able to see off a last lap attempt from Bastable to take the win by 0.423secs.
Liam Vella, who joined the LCQ grid after a crash yesterday, took third, 0.812s behind Bastable with Joe Carnell fourth and Alex Vella fifth.
