New beginnings for T.A.S with GRYD Racing Group

15 May 2026

After two decades of competition in the British Superbike Championship (BSB), TAS Racing is pleased to announce it will join the GRYD Racing Group, effective immediately. The move sees the legendary team become part of the organisation currently overseeing Michael Laverty’s, MLav Racing operations.

Whilst the Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha BSB team structure remains unchanged for the 2026 season—led by Philip Neill and Steve Plater—GRYD Racing will provide operational support for the remainder of the year. Beginning in 2027, GRYD Racing will take full control as TAS Racing transitions out of the BSB paddock.

Philip Neill, TAS Racing Principal, commented: "This agreement provides the perfect opportunity to conclude our BSB chapter while ensuring the long-term future of our core team and racing ethos. I look forward to supporting David Eltherington and Michael Laverty as they expand their impressive multi-championship structure with GRYD Racing.

GRYD Racing

A new force in international motorcycling, GRYD Racing has been formed to unify and strengthen operations across multiple championships.

GRYD Racing is jointly owned by David Eltherington and Michael Laverty, bringing together extensive experience in both the commercial and competitive sides of the sport. The organisation will oversee all MLav Racing activities, streamlining performance, development, and commercial partnerships under a single, cohesive structure.

The new entity will operate teams across the British Superbike Championship paddock, the FIM JuniorGP World Championship, and the MotoGP paddock, marking a significant step in its global ambitions.

In addition to its on-track operations, the wider GRYD portfolio will also incorporate the GRYD clothing brand, aligning the team’s racing identity with a growing lifestyle and apparel offering, and creating new opportunities for fan engagement and commercial growth. The brand will further expand with the imminent launch of the GRYD sunglasses range, enhancing its lifestyle offering and broadening its appeal beyond the paddock.

Michael Laverty commented: “GRYD Racing represents the natural evolution of everything we’ve been building with MLav Racing. By bringing all our programmes together, we can create a clearer pathway for riders, deliver greater value to our partners, and compete at the highest level across multiple championships.”

David Eltherington added: “This is about building a long-term platform for success. GRYD Racing allows us to align our resources, talent, and vision as we continue to grow within the sport globally.”

GRYD Racing will begin operating immediately, with a focus on competitive success, rider development, and delivering premium experiences for partners and fans alike.
