Max Cook claimed the top spot in the second ZYN British Superbike Championship Free Practice session at Donington Park as the AJN Steelstock bimota rider held off the challenge from reigning champion Kyle Ryde to remain fastest.
Cook had set the benchmark lap time, with Ryde again setting his fastest time of the session on his final lap onboard the Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing Ducati.
Storm Stacey is determined to overcome his previous history of tough weekends at Donington Park and the Bathams AJN Racing Ducati rider held third place, narrowly ahead of Scott Redding who had topped the opening session this morning for the Hager PBM Racing Team.
Leon Haslam surged into the top five in the closing minutes of the session, to displace rookie Joe Talbot from the top five in the final minutes on the second of the AJN Steelstock bimotas.
Ryan Vickers had another strong session in seventh place for Honda Racing UK, putting him just 0.004s ahead of Rory Skinner on the Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha. Bradley Ray and Danny Kent completed the top ten with just 0.001s separating the pair at the chequered flag.
