MET fonaCAB Racing launch new team for 2026 with Andrew Irwin

31 March 2026

MET fonaCAB Racing have unveiled their striking new team for the 2026 ZYN British Superbike Championship, a dynamic addition to the grid with Andrew Irwin as the countdown continues to the season opener at Oulton Park this May Bank Holiday weekend (May 2/3/4).

The team is built from a collaboration of two long-term partners of Andrew Irwin, MET and fonaCAB, who have joined forces, launching a new team lining up on the Ducati V4 R, the manufacturer who he made his debut in the championship with in 2018.

MET Healthcare specialises in healthcare engineering and construction, delivering complete solutions for modern healthcare facilities and fonaCAB is Belfast’s most experienced taxi company, providing a fast and reliable service.

Irwin said: “I am really excited to join MET fonaCAB Racing; to be a part of this team is an absolute dream. It has always been a big ambition of mine to have a team structure built around me like this, and we have put in a lot of long hours and hard work over the winter to make this dream a reality. I am excited to get back on the Ducati again as it has been eight years since 2018 and the last time I rode one.

“I need to thank MET and fonaCAB for coming onboard and together I believe we can do a really good job. I have a fantastic package for this year and most importantly a great crew around me; together with our fantastic sponsors, I think we can have a great season.

“Honestly I am going into this season as the happiest and the most relaxed that I have ever been and I can’t wait to get started, we want to do a great job in our first season.”

William McCausland, FonaCAB CEO, said: “As a long-time friend and supporter of Andrew and the entire Irwin family, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to support him this year as he launches his own BSB team, Andrew Irwin Racing. Racing a 2026 Ducati, I believe that Andrew has the talent and the opportunity to compete at the highest level and maybe even for the championship itself.

“It’s been a huge ambition of mine to have our own fonaCAB sponsored BSB team, and partnering with Andrew’s brother Graeme, cousin John and Graham Martin through MET Healthcare, that dream is now becoming a reality, and we couldn’t be more proud and excited about what the upcoming season will bring.”

John Erwin, Team Principal commented: “Leading Irwin Racing as Team Principal is a proud moment, and one that marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter for everyone involved. From day one, our ambition has been clear: to build a competitive, ambitious team capable of making a real impact at the highest level of British Superbikes.

“We have absolute belief in Andrew Irwin. His talent is unquestionable and we are fully committed to giving him the tools and support needed to challenge at the front and fight for the 2026 British Superbike Championship.

“Behind the scenes, a huge amount of work has gone into bringing together a passionate and driven team. Combined with Ducati machinery, we believe we have the foundations in place to be competitive from the outset. Now, the focus is on translating that potential into performance on track.

“We are also proud to be supported by MET Healthcare and fonaCab, two organisations with a proven commitment to motorsport. Their partnership is instrumental to our ambitions and ongoing development.

“With pre-season tests at Donington Park and Oulton Park fast approaching, anticipation is building. The team is ready to get started and show what Irwin Racing is capable of.”
