Christian Iddon had his first taste of the Sencat Racing Yamaha R1 at Andalucía this week, admitting that he is already feeling comfortable on the R1 after the opening two days of testing in preparation for the 2026 ZYN British Superbike Championship.
Iddon moved to the Sencat Racing team ahead of the new campaign and utilised the off-season to get up to speed on the Yamaha R6 in preparation for the opening test on the R1, as the team concluded a positive two days on track. The team now return to the UK, ready for the opening R&G Official Test at Donington Park on April 3/4.
Iddon said: “It has been a really good two days testing the Sencat Racing R1 at Andalucía, I have done loads of laps at this track over the winter so that made it easier for me to adapt quickly to the big bike instead of the R6. I got to a pace that I was really happy with quite quickly, but then we had lots of things to work through because, we needed for me to try a few things as I don’t really know the bike.
“It was a case of trying things, putting them in the bike, so that when we get to tracks in the season I have an idea of the sensation. At the end of the second day we put things back and I was feeling comfortable, so a big thank you to the team for working super hard. I am really looking forward now to the next BSB test.”
