Sencat Racing ready to launch 2026 pre-season testing programme in Spain

17 March 2026

Sencat Racing begin their pre-season testing campaign this week ahead of the 2026 ZYN British Superbike Championship with Christian Iddon building for his debut season with the team, alongside the team’s line up across the Quattro Group British Supersport Championship with Lee Johnston and Freddie Barnes plus Charlie Barnes in the Pirelli British Sportbike class.

The team head to Andalucía in Spain for a two-day private test ahead of the two R&G Official Tests at Donington Park and Oulton Park respectively, with the team ready to work with the title-winning Yamaha in the Superbike class for the first time. Meanwhile the team have a busy programme as they continue with Triumph in the Supersport class and Aprilia in the Sportbike series.

Iddon said: “I’m really looking forward to getting out again on the Superbike. I’ve done more riding this winter than probably I’ve ever done, with lots of laps at the track that we’re going to go and ride the Superbike at, so thanks to the team for that. This test will be a little bit more involved. We’ve got some new personnel, and this is the first time that I’ll have my full crew there to work with.

“We will have some other extremely fast guys there to yardstick against as well. This test for us is more about me continuing to find my flow and understand the R1. As I said, I’m looking forward to it, of course, as always; it should be good to get back out there.”

Johnston said: “I’m really looking forward and keen to get back to work on the Triumph again. We’ve done lots of laps already in Spain on the practice bikes and the team have been working really hard back in the workshop over the winter on the bikes. The testing plan we have put together looks interesting, which I’m looking forward too. I’m very positive for the year ahead, and already I personally I am feeling better physically than last year, so let’s see what we can do!”

Freddie Barnes said: “With the season not too far away now, I’m really looking forward to the two days testing ahead in Andalucía. This will be the first time I’ve been back on my Triumph since the end of last year, with lots of laps done on my practice bikes so far. We’ll have some things to get through at the test and also some new people to work with too, which will be good. I’ve worked hard over the winter and I feel a lot more prepared for the season ahead.”

Charlie Barnes said: “The excitement this winter has been building up to this test for me. I’ve done lots of laps already and I’m really looking forward to finally getting out on my race bike for the first time. Going into this test, I am feeling confident for the season ahead. With a move up in class, I’m hopeful that this test will help me to continue to progress, also being able to work with the team and having data on the bike for the first time too, which will help me to see where we are and where we need to go with the bike and my riding.”

Team Owner Chris Barnes commented: “Like the riders, I am really looking forward to this test and getting going. It will be great to have the whole team meeting up for the first time since the end of the season. The lads in the workshop have been working so hard and the dynamic we all have is excellent. We have a few other teams joining us too, so it will be good for the riders to have a benchmark before we head back for the Official Tests back in the UK.”
