Ilya Mikhalchik claimed his first top ten finish in the ZYN British Superbike Championship with the ROKiT BMW Motorrad British Superbike Race team at Knockhill, finishing race two in tenth place and scoring points in all three races to deliver their best performance so far this season.
Reigning Pirelli National Superstock champion Mikhalchik also had a strong showing in Friday’s wet free practice sessions, before securing his best finish from the opening nine races with a hard-fought tenth place.
Mikhalchik said: “For sure I am quite happy to make a step forward with the performance with the speed and positons. I am happy to finish in my first top ten in BSB in race two, and overall to be competitive all weekend and be close to the leaders in the wet and make steps in the dry as well.
“We found some small things on the bike which helped to make the steps and we will just try to find more and more to close the gap to the front guys and go inside the top ten and fight in there each race. We just need to keep making these steps, so thanks to the team, especially to BMW and to all of our sponsors and we will keep moving forward.”
