Ryan Vickers had his strongest performance of the ZYN British Superbike Championship season so far in race one at Knockhill as he put Honda Racing UK back in the podium fight before claiming fourth place.
Vickers had worked his way through the pack and was dicing with Glenn Irwin over the final laps of the race, and is ready to fight for more of the same in the two races coming up tomorrow from Scotland.
Vickers said: “I am really happy to get my best result of the 2026 season so far with Honda Racing UK, it was really nice to be in the battle for the podium. It is the first time this year that we have been near and I could see Kyle and Brad in the distance for quite some time and I wasn’t really losing any time to Scott either so I am really happy with that.
“The team have worked really hard, I am not a hundred percent sure if we have made any huge steps with the bike, but it just seems that Knockhill is a bit more friendly to us and we don’t have so many issues. We are still lacking in a few areas and we need to find a little bit more rear grip to get off the corners, but I unfortunately got pipped to the line by Glenn at the end and he was able to beat me to the final spot on the podium.
“This gives us a big lift in the garage and I can really see the difference in moral after that race. It is what we need, everyone in the team works really hard and to get this and have a step in the right direction is fantastic so all credit to the team for all their hard work and belief and we will be out there pushing for that podium tomorrow.”
