Kyle Ryde claimed the Omologato Pole Position in a hectic ROKiT Oxygen Performance Qualifying at Knockhill ahead of the opening ZYN British Superbike Championship race this afternoon, snatching the position from Storm Stacey with Scott Redding completing the front row.
Max Cook had set the early pace with a strong lap time at the start, but the AJN Steelstock bimota rider crashed out at turn one with nine minutes remaining on the clock, that left him dropping down the order but his time still will give him a second row start in sixth place.
Redding went to the top of the times with five minutes remaining for the Hager PBM Racing Team, but the times continued to tumble and then Stacey surged ahead on the Bathams AJN Racing Ducati. However, Ryde still had more and he then snatched the top spot in the closing minute of the session.
Bradley Ray was fourth fastest on the McAMS Yamaha, holding off Rory Skinner who heads row two, the Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha rider slid out at the Hairpin in the final three minutes to end his session prematurely. His teammate Danny Kent also had the same, sliding out with one minute of the session to go.
Ryan Vickers was seventh to lead the charge for Honda Racing UK, he was narrowly ahead of Glenn Irwin on the second of the Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing contenders with Lee Jackson and Christian Iddon separated by 0.002s to complete the top ten.
