Quattro Group British Supersport Championship: Currie pips Stapleford as Kennedy crashes out

20 June 2026

Ben Currie secured pole over Luke Stapleford following a dramatic final few minutes in Qualifying.

Aboard the McAMS Yamaha, Currie looked the class of the field throughout the session as he stormed to the top of the timesheets early on and remained there until the chequered flag, with a best lap of 49.013secs.

Honda Racing UK’s Jack Kennedy had been running in second place for much of the session and with three minutes to go, team-mate Dean Harrison jumped up to third.

But if Kennedy had any hopes of stealing the top spot in the closing minutes, they were dashed less than a minute later as he crashed out at Turn Three, walking away unharmed.

It looked like it would be Honda Racing UK p2 and p3 on the grid but as the flag fell, points leader Stapleford was on a flyer, crossing the line with a 49.295sec lap to take second on the grid.

Kennedy will round out the third row, as Harrison will lead Row Two in fourth position with Jack Mahaffy fifth.

Keo Walker continued to lead in the Cup class, and will line up p20 on the grid, as Ben Tolliday was second quickest and Craig Kennelly third.
