Josh Brookes set the pace in the wet opening ZYN British Superbike Championship Free Practice session at Knockhill as the DAO Racing Honda contender held a 0.188s advantage over Fraser Rogers with Jason O'Halloran completing a Honda top three.
In a hectic session, the leading positions continued to change, but the double champion emerged on top, holding off last year’s podium finisher Rogers on the TAG Honda.
O’Halloran had a positive start on his return to Knockhill, holding the third fastest time in the closing moments of the session, surging ahead of Storm Stacey on the leading Ducati and Max Cook who completed the top five for AJN Steelstock bimota.
Home hero Rory Skinner was fifth for Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha ahead of Christian Iddon and Bradley Ray, with the pair running up the order earlier in the session. Lee Jackson was ninth and Ryan Vickers completed the top ten, with 0.921s covering the top 19 riders.
Championship leader Kyle Ryde meanwhile ended the opening session 18th fastest for Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing and 0.862s off the pace-setting time of Brookes.
