Glenn Irwin: “We are arriving at Knockhill much more prepared”

17 June 2026

Glenn Irwin is feeling confident of a stronger weekend as the ZYN British Superbike Championship returns to Knockhill this weekend (June 19/20/21) as the Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing contender bids for a podium return.

Irwin has scored a best result of fifth place so far in 2026 at the Oulton Park season opener when he fought his way through the field, but the previous BSB race winner is feeling resurgent following a recent surgery. Together with the Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing team, he is determined that they will be ready to push towards the front again this weekend.

Irwin said: “It’s no secret that we had quite a difficult start to the season. I feel that at Round one and two, we’ve had quite good last races and I guess, admittedly, we’ve been quite far behind in terms of where the bike should be.

“I would say, without really giving away too much, knowing Ducatis and various strategies that we have used in the past, we’ve nearly been penalised on our side of the garage for having an understanding of the previous bikes, and we can see where I need to improve on track and where we’re struggling and that looks quite apparent now.

“From my side of things, it has been difficult to be at my best when I have had an arm injury, so that’s been rectified with surgery in the break and my arm is already feeling good.

“We go to Knockhill and whether the sheep are at the top or the bottom of the hill, I feel we’re arriving at Knockhill much more prepared. I think the lack of testing has probably hurt us because we had ideas we thought would work on the bike of what we’ve always known, so we’ve just had to go a little bit outside of our own box and that’s something that we’re all working towards within the team. Our target is to return to the podium in the near future and after that to return to race wins as that’s what we’re there to do.”
