Series newcomer Ryan van Nieuwkerk celebrated victory in his series debut this afternoon, as he beat Luca Hopkins by 2.007secs.
Polesitter Luca Wilkinson had led off the line, but van Nieuwkerk passed him on the second Lap, before Wilkinson hit the front again a lap later.
But it wasn’t to last as Wilkinson crashed out moments later, giving the South African the lead once again – a lead he was to hold all the way to the flag.
Laken Payne held second position for a couple of laps before Hopkins found a way through on Lap Five and set about chasing down the leader. However, he was never able to get close enough to catch him and had to settle for second at the flag.
Ben Jolliffe took third after fighting his way through from fifth as Lewis Mullen was fourth and Payne eventually took fifth.
