Luke Stapleford saved his best until last in this afternoon’s second Supersport practice as he stole P1 from Jack Kennedy on his final lap.
Honda Racing UK’s Kennedy had been looking strong at the top of the timesheets as the chequered flag fell at the end of the session, with a lap time of 1min 50.698secs.
But points leader Stapleford – who led FP1 – was still out on a fast one, and moments later knocked Kennedy down to second place as he shaved 0.308secs off his rival’s time.
It took him back to the top and the Scars-Racing Ducati rider has now topped both sessions and leads into Saturday.
Oli Bayliss remained quick and ended the day third behind Kennedy with Dean Harrison fourth and Oliver Barr fifth.
Jamie Richmond once again proved to be quickest of the Cup runners, with James Alderson second and Adam Hartgrove third.
