Max Cook has celebrated seven podium finishes so far in the 2026 ZYN British Superbike Championship, but the AJN Steelstock bimota rider is still seeking his elusive career first race win in the class as the title chase returns to Oulton Park this weekend (July 31 – August 1/2)
Cook has consistently been in the hunt for the top three positions, claiming another treble podium finish last time out at Brands Hatch. Now the AJN Steelstock bimota rider admits he is hungry to taste victory as he continues to close down his rivals and build momentum as the championship reaches the half-way point of the season.
Cook said: “I think Brands Hatch was really, really good; obviously I was happy to get a triple podium again with three third places. It is pretty good, but I just want to get closer to the win! Kyle and Scott were riding really well and their pace was so fast; I didn’t feel like I had any more pace than they did, but I think the job that the AJN Steelstock bimota team did was really good.
“I was happy with the result, but now I feel that I want more! I have had seven podiums and things are feeling really good; I just want to keep pushing to try and get that first win, whenever that might come this year, I am really trying and giving it everything now. I am feeling a lot more confident in myself and obviously, the bike has been so good all year.
“I think Oulton Park should be a great weekend for us. I think we got the bike set up in a good way during the test and throughout the race weekend at round one. At the first round I was being a bit hot-headed and made some mistakes in all three races so I wasn’t one hundred percent satisfied with my performance then, but we definitely had pace for the podium and I think Oulton Park is potentially a bit more of a leveller, so there will be more guys in the mix.”
