Iddon takes top five at Brands Hatch

23 July 2026

Christian Iddon and the Sencat Racing Yamaha team equalled their season best race result in the ZYN British Superbike Championship at Brands Hatch, claiming another fifth place in race one.

The weekend had strong momentum for the team, working throughout Free Practice to be within the top ten and then delivering a season best qualifying of fourth place.

In the opening race, Iddon battled throughout the race to equal his current best result of a fifth place finish at the red flag, followed up by a seventh place in the second contest of the weekend. The team made some further changes for the final race, but a split pipe forced Iddon to retire at the mid-point of the race.

Iddon said: "The results are still not what I want but there has been clear signs of progress this weekend and given how bad I felt with the bike during Free Practice one, I'm really pleased with how we worked to find a good sensation.

"Race one was decent and on paper Race two looks disappointing, but I was setting consistent PB lap times. Such is the pace this season that this is the pace that is required and clearly, we need to make another step, but we also have to be realistic of what is possible round on round.

"It was a shame to DNF the final race. We made a change to the bike and now I don't know if it was any better or worse. We also lost more valuable championship points, but it is what it is. Thankfully, the issue didn't result in a crash so it's all good.

"I'm looking forward to returning to Oulton Park for the next round where I really hope we can continue this progress and push closer to the podium places.”
