Alex Pearson held off Jim Lee to take the win in the first race of the day this morning, beating his rival by 0.248secs after a race-long scrap.
Some 15 riders lined up for this morning’s final chance to secure one of the final 14 grid spots for today’s Main Race.
From pole, Pearson stormed off the line and into the lead with Lee in hot pursuit. Lee had a few looks at potential passing places in the opening laps, making a move to hit the front at Druids on Lap Five.
But Pearson wasn’t done yet and was back ahead a lap later. From there he controlled the remaining few laps to take the win with Lee second, Alex Vella third, Joe Carnell fourth and Paul Barker fifth.
