Oli Bayliss did it again as he celebrated his second win of the weekend and fourth in six races after a hard-fought 18-lap scrap.
The Triumph Macadam Factory Racing rider – who won yesterday’s Sprint – started from pole but it was the McAMS Yamaha of Ben Currie which flew off the line and into the lead when the lights changed.
Bayliss was ahead moments later and led the first few laps ahead of Currie and Honda Racing UK’s Jack Kennedy until a little mistake on lap Four dropped him to third.
A lap later, Kennedy put a move on Currie to hit the front and things calmed down for a few laps. However, Bayliss was soon back on charge, passing Currie on the ninth lap. A mistake by Currie a lap later dropped him and his team-mate Harry Truelove back a few places, giving the pair some work to do to claw back up the order.
Bayliss was back ahead by Lap 12 and moments later, Luke Stapleford passed Kennedy for second and decided to try a move on Bayliss on Lap 13. The pair battled for a few more laps, Stapleford getting ahead on Lap 15 but then a lap later, Kennedy passed the pair of them to hit the front.
But with two laps to go, Bayliss wasn’t about to hang about and passed Kennedy for the lead again and it all led to a final lap battle.
Bayliss led onto Lap 18 but ran wide into Druids. Kennedy shot through but Bayliss quickly came back past and into the lead, which he held to the flag.
Kennedy had to make do with second place ahead of Stapleford, as Currie finished fourth and Truelove fifth.
