Oli Bayliss was back on the top step of the rostrum this afternoon as he took the Sprint race win in his first ever visit to Brands Hatch.
The Australian beat Jack Kennedy and Ben Currie to take his third win in just his third race weekend in the British championship.
Polesitter Currie was fastest off the start line to lead Luke Stapleford into the first corner – and seconds later it all went wrong for points leader Stapleford, who ran wide into Druids and dropped all the way back to seventh.
Bayliss was running second but on Lap Two, was passed by Kennedy who then took Currie to lead, staying ahead for a few laps.
Currie was back ahead by Lap Four as it became a three-rider scrap between Aussies Currie and Bayliss and Kennedy as Bayliss passed both to lead.
On Lap Eight, Bayliss ran wide allowing Kennedy to pounce and take the lead, the Honda Racing UK rider staying ahead until lap 10, when Bayliss moved back ahead.
This time he wasted no time in building a little gap to Kennedy and Currie and was able to stay ahead to take the win.
Behind, Kennedy came under pressure from Currie in the final couple of corners and the pair were together as they crossed the line, Kennedy taking second by just 0.010s from his rival. Harry Truelove was fourth with Carter Brown fifth.
Cam Swain took the spoils in the Cup class, finishing p18 overall with Adam Hartgrove second and James Alderson third.
