Championship leader David Allingham was back on the top step of the podium this afternoon as he beat points rival Luke Mossey by 0.166secs.
The SMS/Nicholl Oils BMW rider got a flying start from the second row, charging through into second position behind polesitter Scott Swann who had grabbed the holeshot and led for the first few laps, with Mossey running third ahead of Billy McConnell.
Allingham made the move for the front on Lap Three and from there led all the way to the flag. Even rain appearing on Lap Five did little to halt his charge as the top four remained in close contact.
By now, Mossey had passed Swann for second and Josh Owens, running in fifth spot, had almost caught the leading four. McConnell soon began pestering Swann for third, as Owens continued to creep up.
McConnell passed Swann to move into third on Lap Seven and shortly after, the rain flags were withdrawn. Over the next few laps, Allingham began to pull away from his rivals but on the final lap, they suddenly closed back up – and with a backmarker ahead, it suddenly became a very close fight.
However, Allingham managed to get around the slower bike without too much trouble to take his eighth win of the year, just 0.166secs ahead of Mossey. McConnell was third with Swann fourth and Owens fifth.
