Luke Mossey celebrated his second victory in a row this afternoon, as he beat Billy McConnell to the opening race win.
Just a fortnight on since his Thruxton success, the Milenco by Padgetts Motorcycles rider proved it was certainly no fluke as he led McConnell across the line at the end of today’s 15-lap scrap.
Despite starting from pole position, Mossey had a poor start and dropped to third in the opening lap as points leader David Allingham and McConnell found their way past.
Allingham led over the line at the start of Lap Two and Three, but Mossey quickly regrouped, passing McConnell on the second lap to move into P2. On Lap Three, Mossey made the move for the front but Allingham stole it back.
However, a lap later, both Mossey and McConnell found their way past and quickly built a little gap. Lewis Rollo came into play, shoving his way past Allingham and into third.
On Lap Six, Allingham had a bit of a moment heading up the Mountain and Scott Swann moved ahead into fourth position, passing Allingham to move up to third. But it wasn’t to last as two laps later, he crashed at Hall Bends, walking away unhurt – but forcing the Safety Car out.
Despite the pack closing up, Mossey was able to control the race and got away cleanly ahead when the Safety Car went in at the end of Lap 12 with McConnell and Rollo in close pursuit.
With a lap to go, Rollo made a mistake at the bottom of the Mountain and crashed out. This promoted Allingham to third which he held until the line, with Josh Owens crossing the line fourth and Ash Barnes fifth.
