Bobby Varey and Kenny Macleod will each line up in pole position for tomorrow’s Heat races after rain finally stopped play with several minutes of this afternoon’s qualifying to go.
It was an interesting session with three red flags, as defending champion and this morning’s leader Barry Burrell was quick to top the timesheets, closely followed by his main points rival Christian Smith as rain hit the track.
Varey and Macleod both managed to stick in fast laps in between two red flags to go P1 and P2 respectively and when the session was finally abandoned after the third red flag, the pair were still ahead and as a result took a pole position each.
Varey, whose best lap was a 1min 50.257secs, will have Christian Smith alongside him and P2 on the grid as Nikki Coates, rounds out the front row.
Macleod – who crashed unhurt on his final outlap – will head the grid for Heat Two with Burrell starting from second position and Kieran Smith from third.
