Championship leader Luke Stapleford kicked off the Cadwell Park weekend the way he hopes to go on as he took control in the opening free practice session this morning.
Heading into Round Eight with a points lead of 55 over Jack Kennedy, the Scars-Racing Ducati rider was quick to set out his stall this morning as he powered to a 1min 28.459sec lap.
It was enough to keep him 0.317secs clear of Kennedy, who ended the session in second place, and 0.380secs clear of his Honda Racing UK team-mate Dean Harrison.
Fourth fastest this morning was Oli Bayliss as the Triumph Macadam Factory Racing continued to get to know yet another new circuit, finishing the session 0.212secs clear of McAMS Yamaha’s Harry Truelove.
It’s a very quiet round for this year’s Cup runners, with only two riders taking to the track in the opening session.
Ben Tolliday was fastest with a 1min 32.584sec lap on his Team Tolly Triumph Racing machine as Michael Large-Taylor was second for the British Army Motorsport Association.
