Kyle Ryde denied Max Cook a home round Omologato Pole Position at Thruxton by just 0.024s as the reigning ZYN British Superbike Champion held off his rival in the ROKiT Oxygen Performance Qualifying.
Ryde set the benchmark early on, but then Cook set his fastest lap of the Hampshire circuit to put the AJN Steelstock bimota ahead with just under ten minutes on the clock. However, Ryde was ready to push for another time on the Nitrous Coin Nitrous Competitions Racing Ducati.
Ryde hit the top of the times in an incredibly close session where the top 14 riders were covered by just 0.962s with Cook holding onto second despite an attack from Scott Redding, who completes the front row for the Hager PBM Racing Team.
Rory Skinner was fourth with his final lap pushing him up to lead the second row for Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha, edging ahead of McAMS Yamaha’s Bradley Ray with Ryan Vickers completing the second row.
Danny Kent was seventh on the second of the Cheshire Mouldings Yamahas as Leon Haslam claimed eighth on the grid, whilst Ilya Mikhalchik scored his best qualifying performance in ninth for the ROKiT BMW Motorrad British Superbike Race team.
Joe Talbot completed the top ten on the second of the AJN Steelstock bimotas ahead of the opening race of the weekend this afternoon.
