Storm Stacey has been pushing to secure the first podium of the season in the ZYN British Superbike Championship, with the top hat wearing contender hoping that the final step forward can come this weekend at Thruxton.
Stacey has scored three fourth places so far, but tempered with some bad luck, together with the Bathams AJN Racing Ducati team, they are ready to come out fighting ahead of this weekend’s three races at the fastest circuit on the calendar.
Stacey said: “Oulton Park was mega in Qualifying at to be back up the top three again; to be sitting on pole and just pipped wasn’t ideal but it is definitely not a bad place to be so that was good. The overall one lap pace is good, so maybe I need to find a bit and the team need to find a bit as well, and then when it all comes together, everything will work well.
“I think Thruxton will actually be a really good place for our bike; we should have new parts again for this weekend, so I am looking forward to it. I think it will be interesting to see how the tyre life is for the race and how long it lasts on our bike and through the race if we can get our engine breaking good enough for the race and dial the power out and just get ahead of the curve and have a good weekend.
“If we can get on that podium that would be unbelievable, that is so the aim at the minute and I think we are so close and I think it is more than achievable, we just need to get everything to click.”
