Eye of the Storm: Stacey sets sights on strong season opener

28 April 2026

Storm Stacey is determined to get his 2026 ZYN British Superbike Championship off to a flying start this weekend at Oulton Park for the opening round of the season as he prepares for his first race on the Bathams AJN Racing Ducati.

Stacey returned with the team this season as they moved to Ducati and after a tough opening R&G Official Test at Donington Park, his home circuit of Oulton Park proved to be a positive second outing as the team continued their pre-season preparations. Stacey was fourth overall on the combined times and is feeling optimistic about the weekend ahead.

Stacey said: “The Oulton Park test was mega for us; we were back up the sharp end where we want to be and the bike is definitely in a better place with the electronics and chassis set up now.

“There is still a lot to try on the bike, and we are maybe not as strong as the others in some areas, but then I think our bike is good in others. We will continue to make changes and improve the package and I can’t wait for round one this weekend.

“It will be so good to be back racing and back to normality as this has felt like a new record for longest winter! This weekend I’d like the kick the season off strong. If we can get top five all weekend I’ll be very happy, but if we could sneak a little podium well that would be perfect!”
