Christian Iddon is continuing to get to grips with the Sencat Racing Yamaha ahead of the opening round of the ZYN British Superbike Championship on May Bank Holiday weekend (May 2/3/4).
Iddon was eighth fastest on the timesheets at the opening R&G Official Test at Donington Park as he continues to work with the team and adapt to the R1 after seasons on the BMW and most recently Kawasaki.
Iddon said: “It was nice to get out in front of the BSB crowd again at Donington Park and it was great to see everyone considering it was pretty chilly! We almost got away with the weather, but the wind made it really difficult to understand some of the changes as it also kept changing. Day one was pretty decent; I didn’t feel that great on the bike, but in relation to everyone else, we were pretty quick, which was pleasantly surprising. Not surprising, because I expect us to be up towards the front, but because the feeling wasn’t great, but we were still going half decent.
“Day two proved to be a little more difficult, I just never really got going as we were still looking for the feeling with the bike. So we reset the plan a little bit and actually we ended on a positive note. We had a good final session and actually the end lap time didn’t reflect what I was able to do, so there are lots of positives, especially in the way that myself and the team are working. I think we have come on leaps and bounds in the last few months and we are working really well. We have the Oulton Park test next and for me every lap is a bonus and I am looking forward to getting out there.”
