Kyle Ryde was victorious in the second Bennetts British Superbike Championship race of the weekend at Donington Park, holding off an attack from Scott Redding on the penultimate lap to return to the top step of the podium for Nitrous Competitions Racing Yamaha.
Redding had launched off the line into the lead, but Ryde grabbed the advantage and the pair were inseparable throughout the 12-lap contest. The Hager PBM Ducati rider though was determined to try and make it a second victory so far this weekend with a move at Melbourne on the penultimate lap, but he ran wide and Ryde was straight back into the lead.
The victory for Ryde means he extended his standings lead to 17 ahead of two further races at Donington Park this afternoon.
Rory Skinner claimed a second podium finish of the weekend for Cheshire Mouldings Ducati, pushing into third and then managing to break the pack behind him led by Bradley Ray, who had a stronger race after a tough start to the weekend on the Raceways Yamaha.
Andrew Irwin was the first of the Honda Racing UK riders in fifth place as he held off Christian Iddon on the AJN Steelstock Kawasaki, who had carved his way up the order. He held off Leon Haslam on the Moto Rapido Ducati Racing and Tommy Bridewell in eighth.
Glenn Irwin had another top ten finish for Nitrous Competitions Racing Yamaha, battling with Danny Kent on the McAMS Racing Yamaha who completed the top ten.
