Nikki Coates and Josh Corner took a win apiece after two close scraps at the front in today’s two BMW Heat races.
Coates, who led the championship by just one point over Barry Burrell coming into this weekend, beat his rival by just 0.208secs in the first battle, after the pair fought all the way, swapping places lap after lap in a scrap which lasted all the way to the flag.
Behind, Christian Smith finished third with Joe Walton fourth and Scott Carson fifth.
Heat Two was equally close, this time between Corner and Kieran Smith. Corner got ahead on the fifth lap and was able to get enough of a gap to keep Smith behind him, winning by 0.477secs.
Reigning champ Thomas Strudwick – making a return to the series this weekend – was third rider home, with Andrew Williams fourth and James Bull fifth.
