Rhys Irwin hit the ground running at Donington Park this morning, as he led the way in the opening free practice session.
The Gearlink Bike Performance 15 rider clocked a time of 1min 30.833sec on his final lap, beating Jack Kennedy to the top spot by 0.344secs.
Defending champ Kennedy had Moto Rapido Ducati Racing’s Ben Currie snapping at his heels but managed to hold him off by just 0.077secs to stay P2.
Kennedy’s Honda Racing UK team-mate Dean Harrison posted the fourth best time, with Luke Stapleford fifth.
In the Cup class, Stephen Thomas set the pace aboard his Army Motorcycle Road Race Team Triumph, with Lewis Jones second and Keo Walker third.
