Scott Carson took his maiden BMW F 900 R Cup win in the opening Heat race today, as Barry Burrell took the spoils in the second.
Heat One was a three-way scrap between points leader Nikki Coates, series returnee James Ellison and Carson. Ellison had looked in control after taking the lead from Coates early in the race, but it was all change on the final lap.
Coates hit the front but Ellison squared him off and moved back ahead – and seconds later, Carson rode straight past the pair of them and beat Coates in a drag to the flag, taking the win by 0.019s as Ellison was third.
Heat Two was all about Burrell and Josh Corner, who both took off at the start and battled each other to the flag.
Burrell led every lap but Corner was never far behind. On the final lap, Corner was 0.293secs behind and challenging, but couldn’t find away past the more experienced Burrell and had to settle for second, as Kieran Smith was third.
