Bradley Ray set the new fastest ever Bennetts British Superbike Championship lap time of the TT Circuit Assen as the Raceways Yamaha rider smashed Jake Dixon’s 2018 record by 0.050s to hold off Hager PBM Ducati’s Scott Redding by 0.022s in Bandero Café Shoot Out Qualifying.

Reigning champion Kyle Ryde had been the first rider to dip into the 1m:35s lap times on the Nitrous Competitions Racing Yamaha, making a big step forward from his time of yesterday, but will start fourth for the opening race today.

Glenn Irwin was holding second position on the second of the Nitrous Competitions Racing Yamahas, but a crash at turn nine prematurely ended his session as he watched the remainder from the sidelines unhurt.

Redding then moved to the top, under the record and pushing to stay in front of Ray, but the 2022 champion was on a flier and he stormed to the top to claim another Omologato Pole Position.

It was the best Bandero Café Shoot Out Qualifying session of the season for Charlie Nesbitt as the MasterMac Honda rider completed the front row, pushing Ryde to fourth ahead of Glenn Irwin and Leon Haslam on the Moto Rapido Ducati Racing.

Christian Iddon heads the third row on the leading AJN Steelstock Kawasaki, ahead of John McPhee, Tommy Bridewell and Danny Kent.
