Barry Burrell is the 2025 champion after crossing the line in third place as Josh Corner took the final win of the year.
The former BSB rider - who has been a title challenger from the opening round - needed to finish fourth or higher to seal the deal this morning – as he held off James Ellison to take the final podium spot behind his main rival, Nikki Coates.
It was a tense 10 laps for the leading three, as Coates and Corner battled for the lead throughout, swapping positions several times each lap as Burrell looked to be sitting happy in third.
But when the Safety Car came out and then came back in with two laps to go, it became a race to the finish line, with Burrell also getting in the mix up front.
Ellison also got involved but dropped to fourth on the final lap as Burrell moved up to second briefly, before allowing Coates and Corner to battle it out for victory, safe in the knowledge the crown was his if he simply stayed where he was.
Coates and Corner fought all the way to the flag, Corner managing to out-drag his rival to take the win by just 0.004secs as Ellison took fourth behind Burrell and outgoing champion Thomas Strudwick fifth.
“After the Safety Car, in the last two laps I thought ‘let’s try and win it’ and I made a couple of moves,” he said. “If the championship wasn’t at stake I’d have been up for the win…but at the end of the day we did what we came to do.
“A massive shout out to everyone who have supported me, thank you so much, what a year, what more could I ask for?”
