Newly-crowned Sportbike champion Kas Beekmans took the final race win of the year as many of his rivals were caught out by rain at Brands Hatch this afternoon.
The 10-lap race was declared wet at the start, but the rain got worse throughout the race and it became a battle to stay upright.
Beekmans, in a special gold livery and running the number one plate, hit the front first but on Lap Six it all changed as Fenton Seabright hit the front. Casey O’Gorman moved into second place with Asher Durham third as Beekmans slipped back to fourth.
But as the rain got heavier, Durham was the first to suffer as he hit the front at the start of Lap Eight but then crashed out at Paddock Hill Bend.
Then, on the following lap, Both O’Gorman and Seabright crashed in what appeared to be separate incidents and Davie hit the front.
As more riders crashed further down the pack, Beekmans found a way past Davie on the final lap to cross the line first. Davie celebrated second and his first podium of the year as Ferre Fleerackers was third, Alfie Davidson fourth and Lewis Smart fifth.
